Speaking of gaining speed, it is important to remember to think of moving both legs while you skate. (Not using only one to push)
Skate using both legs: Nearly all skaters have one leg they prefer to skate on, while another feels slightly awkward to use. This is normal as normal as being right handed or left handed, but it is important to skate using both legs. Aside from looking a little silly, only using one leg you to skate will make your pushes weak, reduce your speed, plus will likely result in soreness the next day. Even if you’re starting slow, think of lifting one foot up, then the other. (Holding onto the wall at either end of our rink should help you, as well.)
We are thankful for each of your comments. We are working towards uploading more regularly to provide readers with more fun information that will improve skating skills, and pair nicely with a mug of morning coffee. 🙂
